Ultimate Weight Loss Health Test

Our comprehensive weight loss health test is the perfect test to monitor and track issues relating to why you may be gaining weight or not losing weight. The weight loss health test screens for diabetes, thyroid, food intolerance, cortisol health and vitamin deficiency.

Diabetes test

The HbA1c test, also known as the haemoglobin A1c or glycated haemoglobin test, is an important blood test that gives a good indication of how well your diabetes is being controlled. Together with the fasting plasma glucose test, the HbA1c test is one of the main ways in which type 2 diabetes is diagnosed.

Symptoms of diabetes can include:

  • Excessive thirst
  • Frequent or increased urination, especially at night
  • Excessive hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • Sores or cuts that won’t heal

Thyroid test

By combining a Free-T4 with a TSH a more accurate picture of the state of a persons Thyroid can be measured. If the Pituitary gland detects a drop in the level of Thyroid hormones in the blood it increases the production of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). In a normal person, this causes the Thyroid gland to produce more T4.

If the Thyroid gland is under active (Hypothyroidism) this increase in TSH will have little so the Free T4 will remain low and the TSH will climb higher. Conversely, if the Thyroid gland is overactive (Hyperthyroidism) then the Pituitary will stop producing TSH and the Free-T4 will be high.

ApoE genotyping is sometimes used as part of follow-up testing if high cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations are found, to check if a particular lipid abnormality has been genetically inherited. It is not widely used, but when it is requested, it may be in combination with other tests, such as lipoprotein electrophoresis.

Cortisol test

The adrenal glands are located at the top of the kidneys and produce hormones that help the body to control blood sugar, burn protein and fat, react to stressors and regulate blood pressure. They are made up of 2 distinct components, the adrenal cortex (outer part) which produces vital hormones such as cortisol, aldosterone and DHEA and the adrenal medulla (inner part) which produces adrenaline and nor-adrenaline.

Vitamin Deficiency test

This simple home blood test checks for Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Folate Deficiency which can lead to several different health issues including weight gain and low mood all of which can make losing weight harder.

Food intolerance test

Food intolerance and sensitivities can contribute to increased weight gain.  Water retention, fatigue, bloating, constipation, leaky gut and problems sleeping are just some of the problems that can occur when eating the wrong foods for you.
